Memphis! Wake up! Do not buy into this smart meter deal. I have heard from people that have them that they have been experiencing aches and pains since they have been installed and that they will turn off or slow down your power. I heard one woman say she was in the middle of cooking her dinner and the smart meter turned down her power so low that she could not finish her dinner on time. Please, please, please don't bring this to Memphis. Some things are better left alone.

On the website www.bantexssmartmeters.com Texans found out that in the 2009 stimulus bill we have already been paying for the meters--some $2.00+ for them each month and will continue to pay for them for the next 11 years and the price is going up. It is now at $3 in the state of Texas. So what is going on in Tennessee?
How much more are we going to take people? I think this is it.

Correction to up above email: We may not have to get the meters at first but i read where we might have to pay a fee at some point if we do not use one. Bottom line-- it is all about control and getting more money out of us when we use utilities during peak times. The Feds are going to get your money.
What I want to know is if we are going to get an enlarged photo of Obama to put in our entry ways. The North Koreans have one of Kim Jong Il that they bow to when they enter. I figure we should get one as the government provides healthcare, education plans, birth control, food stamps, Obama phones and now our utilities.

It is all about control. Who will stop them from eventually controlling our heat? In Naperville, Illinois two women were handcuffed and arrested for not allowing the meter man to install a meter. Is that what we are going to see? YES! Texas had a choice. Jerry Collins, President of MLGW wrote me in a letter that we would have a choice and now he is talking differently. I call that a lie. What else will be lied about. Get the government off our back now! Ii is a Federal Law that the city present a meeting to the public before doing this. Naperville didn't and now the citizens have filed a Federal lawsuit. Are you ready?

Did any volunteer in the Pilot Program not have time-of-day rates?

Why is it now so important to stop TVA from having to operate peak-generating facilities? They have been dealing with peak loads for many years.

Or is the current problem stemming from the fact that TVA will shut down three coal-fired plants next year?

Well lets look at some of these?
a. Not fully funded, means if all of the employees retired today, it would be under funded.
b. The city doesn't have to deposit its part into the pension fund, if the fund is in the black. Back in the 90's they didn't make deposits of their part. (who's fault is that?)
c. The city has a great deal with the pension system. Lets remember the city doesn't participate in SS, as the private sector has too. Right there gives the city about a 7.5% savings. The city also doesn't even put in that much into the pension system. Each employee puts more in the pension system, than the city does. Remember city employees do not get ss.
d. Line of duty, ok move it. It is handled by a private insurance company for regular now? Line of duty, the person has to see 2 of their own doctors, a city doctor and 3 for the pension board. Then that info is given to the pension board. How about letting those that get a line of duty sue their employer (the city) for damages, like the private sector?
e. Reduce benefits? Well let's see, Fedex for someone that has 20 years gets about 5 weeks vacation, sick days they use or they are paid for them at the end of the year and personal days? The amount I pay for health insurance is much higher than most private employers. It is more than my wife pays, more than fedex and the list goes on. The city could do a lot better on insurance, if they would get out of the insurance business. The city is self insured, Cigna only manages it for them.
f. Remember when you reduce the sick days, the city will have to require employee to purchase long term disability insurance and part of that premium has to be paid by the the employer.
