I have been in contact with a very active group of people in Nashville about common core, school books and material and data collecting. Following is part of a recent email from this Nashville group about a great success they had in reviewing school books and reporting on what is actually in these books. I have recently sent an open records request to the new Shelby County School System requesting access to books, book lists and data collection. I have not yet heard back from them on this request. I will keep you informed on this request. Eventually I will get access to these books, pamphlets, material and data collection. At that point I will need help to review and report as did the Nashville group. It is a big job but are the kids worth it? Please let me know if you are up for the work.
This report came from Dr. J Lee Douglas, Nashville.
Beginning with public schools in the late 60’s, our children have been victim to the worst kind of lies, those that are told without words by the process of omission.
They were told, for example, that the Russian revolution was a people’s national movement to bring class-absent equality and brotherhood to all of its citizens. They were not told that Joseph Stalin murdered 60 million of its citizens to achieve their goal which, by the way, did never succeed.
Each generation of text books is like 60 shades of gray with each being successively darker and bolder. One recent text book used in Tennessee history begins with, “Islam, the world’s greatest religion”.
Until now, Tennessee State appointed Text Book Committees had never been challenged. Season after season they rubber stamped those books brought to them by the various publishers, never suspecting that an insidious action was at work to brainwash our children to be anti-free market, anti-capitalism, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian, pro socialism, pro Islam, pro big government, anti-innovation, anti-fossil fuels, pro renewable energy.
Since July, an army of like minded people have stormed MTSU to read the proposed books that would become available in our public schools beginning in 2014 or 2015. Eventually, these same books became available online making it easier for reviewing.
Each reviewed book received a report that was shared with the group. Some reviewers read as many as a dozen books. The number of books being considered by this Committee was 74.
Below, I’ll try to list those friends who gave up many of their summer hours to uncover the inaccuracies, inadequate, incomplete and misleading paragraphs and statements. I hope each of you will contact these wonderful people.
Keep in mind, our State Committee is nearly always a simple rubber stamp to satisfy the letter, though not the spirit of the law. They were not filters but advancers.
Today, your army appeared before this Committee at the Tennessee Preparatory School and gave reports, answered questions, challenged statements, provided printed literature that demonstrated that the largest publisher present at today’s hearing should be charged with bribery of school officials charged to purchase text books for their schools.
Our Lisa Moore, to insure that these Committee members understood that our army was not a band of misfits waiting to be charged with hate crimes, listed the educational backgrounds of our members ranging from high school graduate up to Law Degrees (JD), multiple masters and even Ph. D. I do hope that you are beginning to feel the same pride in these people. We are bound together by our love for America and its original values and principles.
There is so much to tell but not now. After all presentations, challenges and causes were heard, as is typical for this hearing, the Chairman of the Committee then asked the Parliamentary Question which leads to the simple vote that approves all of these inadequate, misleading text books:
“Do I hear a motion to approve?”
That is the moment when one of the eight Committee members declares, “I move to approve these texts for the State of Tennessee.”
Silence and more
The Chairman could not get one NOT ONE of her panel to nominate an approval for these crusty books !!
The Chair was panicking, thinking to herself that she didn’t know what to do. This has never happened before.
Kevin Huffman, the Department of Education Commissioner for Tennessee failed to appear but in his stead he sent a couple of cute ladies who were turning white and the Pearson Publishing representative who by now knew that the Committee had seen the handout describing his company’s improprieties was reaching for his scalp to find any remaining hair needing removing. For Pearson, failure to get his books approved represented a loss of tens of millions of dollars. Do you care? Does that bother you? Are you upset that they are disinterested in providing accurate information that develops our kids into informed, appreciative, and inspired citizens? Let them lose their hundreds of millions. What price would we put on our kids education?
And that my friends, is more evidence that America’s future is looking brighter every day. We have more projects at every level and we need people to be involved in these projects. Many will be at a more local level. Please contact me if you can see a future for yourself in restoring America’s future.
As for the Committee, it seems that they now have their panties in a wad and need to sort things out. Let’s pray that they don’t think that they we’ll be easy after having won the first round. No mercy will be found here. Thank God.
