Instead of reading the latest vampire novel, I decided to read through the approved City of Memphis 2013 operating budget. I know_You are saying “Get a Life.” {PEPM I assume means Per Employee Per Month}.
I came to page 226 of the budget (HUMAN RESOURCES) which lists the FY 2013 Performance Measures and Metrics. This is like the political parties platforms. It is a goal of the administration but whether they really believe it is another question. But it is interesting to look at what they said.
- Provide cost effective healthcare plan with a cost of no more than $756.97 pepm to the city employees by Jan. 2013. Currently employees are paying $268 per employee per month. This could save $36 million per year.
- Provide cost effective pension plan with a cost of no more than $841.41 pepm to the city employees by January 2013. Currently employees are paying only $310 per employee per month. This could save $40 million per year.
A savings of $76 million per year. That would be nice. Go for it by January 2013.
