Did you see the announcement this morning by Mayor Wharton of a new office at the City of Memphis. DRUM ROLL!! Office of Talent and Human Capital. Here are the details.
- The focus will be developing and enacting a collaborative action plan that assists public housing residents with workforce skills: increases the number of college graduates in Memphis, and recruits-retains knowledge workers in our city.
- The Wharton administration officials declined to provide information about the salary.
Memphisshelbyinform announces a contest for the name of the next City of Memphis Office to be started. The rules of the contest are these.
- The new office must have a more engaging name than my previous favorite (before this new one) “The Office of Multicultural and Religious Affairs”
- It must have a six figure salary and a focus statement that makes less sense than the two above.
The winner of this “name that new department” contest will be hired as the new director with all the perks and benefits befitting a City of Memphis Director.
We already have several suggestions. Here is one.
How about the office of :
“DIRECTOR OF DIRECTORS, COMMITTEES, AND SUB-COMMITTEES”
or
” DIRECTOR OF DISENFRANCHISED RESIDENTS DISTRESSED OVER TAXES & APPOINTMENTS TO CITY GOVERNMENT”
