I thought I knew a lot about local pension systems until I was asked by Mayor Ford to join the Shelby County Retirement Task Force. Under Commissioner Mike Ritz it is a well run and professional group.
Yesterday I attended a morning meeting of the pension task force to which Mayor Ford appointed me. In the afternoon I attended and spoke at the Memphis and Shelby County Metropolitan Government Charter Commission at the invitation of the Chairwoman, Julie Ellis.

A very interesting research item that is now of interest to me is the rising property tax payments on residential housing in Memphis and Shelby County in the last ten years.
